Asus To Release Tablet-Phone Device Called “PadFone”
Asus is planning to add another tablet device in the market which will be revealed this May 20 at Computex Taipei 2011. In a teaser ad in the company’s Facebook page an ad shows the new device with “Break the Rules: Pad or Phone?” This could mean that the device will have a tablet and smartphone functionality at the same time.
Asus is known for delivering dual purpose products such as their latest Asus Eee Pad Transformer which is a tablet yet when docked with a keyboard transforms into a laptop. There are still no reports as to what the tablet-phone device would look like. A lot of speculation is going on right now on whether this device could be folded into a tablet then folded again into a smartphone or it could possibly be two devices as well.
A week from now we will definitely get to see what the device will look like. We have also learned that Asus has already filed a trademark at the US Patent and Trademark Office for the name “PadFone”. This might be the name the company will be using on their upcoming device however since it is still not final there may be changes along the way.
