How much did Sony lose during the recent PSN breach? Although a lot of people have been speculating on various figures, Sony has recently released an official figure which it based on its fiscal results. The recent network breach cost the company $171 million which already includes the cost for network enhancements, persona information theft program, welcome back program, and legal and expert costs.

The released result still does not include the losses it will have in the coming months from subscribers who may leave the network. The company also suffered from an estimated loss of $3.2 billion recently from the earthquake that hit Japan.

Sony just recently made their PSN service back online after it underwent a series of security enhancements. It must be recalled that the company shut down the PSN after it discovered that their servers were breached and that personal information of its subscribers have been illegally accessed.

A lot of people were not pleased by the way Sony handled the incident especially the subscribers since they were not informed immediately about the situation.

An investigation is currently ongoing with the help of the authorities and legal action will be taken by the company against those involved with the incident.
