The next version of its PSP is said to be in the market in spring 2012, which is around the end of the company’s fiscal year. Sony is expected to give the exact date of the release and its price tag at Sony’s E3 press event.

The Next Generation Portable has a 5 inch OLED touch screen that’s capable of multi-touch up to the back panel of the console. Movements are controlled through the Sixaxis motion-sensing combination of accelerometers and gyroscope. Plus there are the traditional dual analog sticks.

The touch sensitive back panel would allow players to interact with the game world and characters from every direction. There are several ways to move but it doesn’t eliminate the fun factor in the games. The NPG has both 3GS and Wi-Fi support to connect to the internet.

The NGP feels good in the hands but it is bigger than most smartphones. But Sony maintains that it has the right balance to provide quality gaming experience to gamers as well as portability.
