Hulu Eliminates Facebook Connect Feature
Hulu incorporated Facebook Connect during the weekend. But just as soon as the feature was launched, Hulu removes the new feature because of some issues that affected several users. They complained that upon logging into Hulu, they don’t see their account information but instead see someone else’s account data.
Hulu is already looking for a solution to the problem. It has already taken steps to ensure the security of its users and to make sure that it wouldn’t happen again. The company confessed that it was a coding mistake on its side and not by Facebook. The company denied that the problem was the result of hacking, vulnerability in Facebook Connect, or third party involvement.
It confirmed that 50 users could have been accessed without their knowledge. Hulu said that their systems were not compromised. This means that sensitive personal information, like passwords and credit card data, was not accessed.
Hulu disabled all the connection points of Facebook Connect to the site. It also requires the users to login via the Hulu web site. It also reset the privacy settings to the strictest level for anyone who has logged into the site through Facebook. The company said that once it solved the issues, it will re-launch the feature.
