Why Google, Apple and Yahoo Want Hulu

Tech companies are trying to get their hands on Hulu so that they get an advantage on their competitors. Google could use the streaming video service on its new Google+ social network. Apple will use it to jumpstart its Apple TV services. Hulu could also bring traffic and revenue to Yahoo.

Google’s newest social network, Google+, is fast becoming one of the popular sites. IT has an innovative video chat and content sharing mechanisms. Having Hulu in it would cement Google’s spot as top online video content provider in the internet. It would bring in new contents that would attract more visitors and the company will earn more advertising revenue.

The search giant already owns YouTube, which has around 150 million unique visitors a month. Users can easily embed a video from YouTube into Google+. The Hangout feature could also lead to online video watching with multiple friends at the same time.

If Apple gets Hulu then it would boost its Apple TV. It has the advantage among its rivals because it has over $76 billion in cash. With the acquisition, Apple could turn its Apple TV into another Netflix.
