Google Adds Preview Pane in Gmail
Google announced a new feature in its Gmail service that lets users enable a preview pane. This feature has been implemented in Microsoft Outlook and other webmail software for some time. Users who like to enable this new feature can go to the Gmail Labs tab, which is under Gmail Settings and turn on the option.
There are people who want to look at a preview of the message first before they read the whole email message. Now Gmail users will have a way to preview their messages in the inbox. The new feature in the Gmail Labs is simply called Preview Pane. It is similar to the Gmail on a tablet device. It is ideal for people with a larger resolution screen.
Microsoft’s Hotmail and Yahoo Mail don’t have a default preview pane but both can be configured to have it enabled in their respective options menu. Hotmail has two pane options. Users can choose from bottom or right of the screen.
Gmail’s Preview Pane is similar to the Gmail app for tablets. At the left are the folders and contacts. Then the middle of the screen is the list of email headers. To the right of it will be the Preview Pane. Users can opt to place the window pane below the inbox.
