The revamping now gives new looks to Yahoo search results across Yahoo Finance, regular web results, Yahoo Image search, Yahoo Sports, and Yahoo Blogs. The changes come amidst internal ranging inside the company, and wider problems with share price and market share. The Yahoo board recently fired its embattled CEO, Carol Bartz—a move that was considered long overdue by tech experts.
News coming out of Yahoo is that the changes come as result of the continued efforts to unify search experiences across web search, multimedia and other vertical search platforms. The intent has certainly converged well the results because the new results pages are sleek, easy to navigate and certainly adds a fresh experience to searching. Yahoo Image Search in particular has seen major improvements, with results now showing more images from Facebook, better recommendations at end of galleries, as well an improved ‘Latest Pictures’ section.
Yahoo will probably have to wait some time before the user-verdict is returned, but in an age where form so often dominates substance, the verdict shouldn’t be too bad.
