Britney Spears to Reach 1 Million Followers On Google+
Social networking sites like Google+ and Facebook rely heavily on celebrities and other well-known people to drive regular users to sign up and interact.
Google+ in particular is keen on having celebs come on board, not least because its still a young social network and needs all the boost it can get. Enter Britney Spears, the former darling of pop music. Since signing up to Google+, her presence has grown and grown and now she’s achieved the milestone of being the first person on the platform to reach 1 million followers.

Spears beat out people like Larry Page (Google’s own) and the rising Ashton Kutcher who more or less came on board Google+ at the same time Spears did. Looking at recent trends surrounding Spears, it seems she’s moving quite briskly across other social networking platforms too. She’s now has more followers on Twitter than Kutcher (if you want to match the two as competitors) and the fact that she’s managed to snag 1 million+ followers on Google+ is quite an achievement given the age of the platform itself.
Google will be hoping that other big-name celebs with even more pulling power make their home Google+. The likes of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga would help cement Google+ as place for ‘hanging out’ among the ‘Generation Y’ demographic.
