Retard.com Domain Name Sold For A Whopping $120
There are some domains that have intrinsic value and some that don’t—retard.com is one of them. And in an act befitting its value, the owner only managed to get $120 for it. This is a very significant shortfall from its initial valuation released by Valuate.com. According to Valuate.com’s owner, Francois Carrillo, the domain’s estimated worth is $74,000.
But who in their right mind would pay 74K for a domain that is not only in present times politically incorrect, but in a classical sense downright offensive. The word retard has never had positive connotations and so the fact that it only attracted $120 at auction reflects this.
And what of the buyer? Well, it turns out that a one Mr Julius Williams of Chicago, Illinois was the ‘lucky’ buyer. He even added a pointed note to the Sedo auction declaring that: “It don’t matter if the domain isn’t for sale by the owner, once it’s listed on Sedo it’s a contractual agreement. I’ll fight any retard domainer that stands in my way, for sho!”
Sounds like the sort of person who would buy a domain name like that to me. At any rate the domain is now in the hands of someone for now; but I am sure it won’t be the last we hear of it.
