Touch.com Domain Name Sold For $100,000
Just this week, Lela.com sold for a staggering $100,001. That seems to have opened the floodgates because another sale is now being reported for a whopping $100,000.
The domain is Touch.com and it has been reportedly bought by popular App developer, Enflick. The domain was sitting in the portfolio of a one Douglas Beardshaw of Toronto. He apparently passed on several offers over the years and only decided to sell because he got a serious offer. Enflick is apparently the developer of popular messaging platform, PinChat and wanted the domain to rebrand PingChat to “Touch”.
It seems then that good old Mr Douglas Beardshaw just happens to be sitting on the right domain at the right time. And what a time it is. Many observers are calling the App development market the next frontier for domain names and many have even gone as far to say that Touch.com should have fetched more. One observer whispered the 500K figure—something which the seller would probably irk at now that he’s let the domain go so cheaply.
Cheap or not though, the seller has made a hefty sum. It’s hard to tell what is margin is like since no data exists on how much he acquired the domain for. I would guess so that he made enough to smile once the deal was sealed.
Do you think a domain like Touch.com should have gone for more? Share your thoughts below.
