Social Network For “Couples” Surpasses 62,000 Users

Social networking is one of those online activities that is so widespread, so expansive that after a while, you sort of want to find a niche. This desire for segmentation has spawned a lot of social networks that are dedicated to particular groups of people with particular habits. There are social network for dog lovers, cat lovers; even Star Trek fans have their own gathering space.

Unsurprisingly therefore, there’s a social network devoted to couples. Appropriately dubbed ‘Between’, the social network is the brainchild of a team of young twenty-something’s from Korea who felt social networking needed a space for people who require a bit more closed-door interaction.

The social network functions on an App for now targeting Asian users but is slowly gaining momentum. At last count, ‘Between’ had over 62,000 registered users, and recently solidified its spot as the number two App in Korea’s App Store. The growth of the App has been tied heavily to the focus of VCNC, the company who created it. Though Korea based, VCNC chose to release the App in not just Korean, but Chinese, English and Japanese. This was just back in November so of course, 62,000 registered users is a big deal.

According to the CEO of VCNC, Jaeuk Park, the long term vision for ‘Between’ is to create a stronger platform for couples who want better dating ideas and interaction, whilst at the same time attracting relevant advertisers. I suppose as long as the competition doesn’t swoop in and overwhelm ‘Between’, the network will prosper.
