Facebook Will Be Integrated With iOS 6
The last time they tried to marry Facebook was in iOS 4, several years back.
Apple has had a strong relationship going on with Facebook, according to Tim Cook, who did make a few good mentions about the social networking giant. And the stay tuned definitely threw some hint at possible future integration.
If you had a chance to read all the iOS 6 wishlists posted back in time, you’d really know how much we all wanted Facebook to be integrated into the framework of iOS 6, Apple’s next-gen mobile operating system. And some good news has cropped up now.
We’re talking about iOS 6 features including Facebook integration, folks!
TechCrunch, which usually does not come up with such active rumors, posted something really huge.
“Now the two sides appear on the brink of formalizing the relationship. After much speculation, Facebook integration will indeed be baked into the latest version of iOS, we’ve learned.”
Quite possibly, a source close to Apple or Facebook, or someone who has had a look at the beta versions of iOS 6 must have leaked the information to TechCrunch. What’s important is, it just looks very possible that iOS 6 will integrate Facebook finally!
There was a lot riding on Apple-Facebook’s strained relationship when some of the talks went sour. Apple wanted more freedom of access which Facebook was refusing – and Apple tried to something with its Ping services which never really took off.
Facebook has over 700 million users. While Twitter does have quite a lot of users and the integration on iOS is great, the problem is, many websites use Facebook for login systems. If Apple did not integrate Facebook sooner, it was going to lose a lot of apps and development on the charts.
We think its high time Apple brings Facebook back to iOS. iOS 6 release date falls sometime during the WWDC 2012 that starts on June 11 – just a week away.
