51% Of Teens Visit Facebook Every Day
Teens of today define more than any other generation the totality of technology, particularly the internet. New research us showing that now more than ever, teenagers are becoming more ‘wired to the internet and many it seems wouldn’t be able to do without it.
According to a study conducted by Common Sense Media, American teens are especially hooked on the internet and social media. Approximately 75% of 13 to 17 year olds have social networking accounts and this will increase one Facebook relaxes its age-restriction limits. Four years ago only about 59% of teens were using social media—today more than 90% are connected.
Facebook is one of the biggest reason so many teens can’t stay away from the internet and social media and the platform accounts for 51% of the daily visits made by teens to social media sites. More than 41% of teens admitted openly to having an addiction to their connecting devices and nay walk through any mall in America will add credence to this.
Danger still lurks however and now more than ever the imperative to protect teens is at its highest. Rise in cyber bullying and other criminal activities have put teenagers at risk and many states are struggling to adequately and practically safeguard the rights of teens online. Parents no doubt will have to be big focal point of these efforts.
