90% Of Students Text While They’re In Class

Onlinecollege.org has been taking a look into the way in which mobile phones have impacted society—particularly as it relates to manners.

These days it seems no-one care about pleasantries and the once bountiful courtesy and consideration prevalent among men and women has all but disappeared. This disappearance of course means that today’s students don’t get taught much about manners and so it comes as no surprise that a whopping 90% of them text whilst in class.

According to the Online College study, 3 in 4 people think that mobile phone etiquette has gotten worse in the last 2 years. Texting has now become a practice that is carried out even when not appropriate. Most teens and some adults text while driving and across America over 3.5 million text messages are sent every minute.

Students are notorious for abusing new technology and it comes as no surprise that mobile phones are now a key cheating tool during exams. According to the study, 1 in 10 students use their phones during an exam to get answer from ‘outside’.

The mobile phone has totally dominated modern life and the study that showed that of people under 25, 10% will text during sex. Among adults, 15% will answer a call during sex. In another 10 years there will no doubt be a multi-billion dollar market for mobile phone addiction therapy.
