IMDb Hits 40 Million App Downloads
Movie buffs head over to IMDb when they want the details about pretty much anything regarding movies. Actors, film gaffs, gossip, spoilers, you name it—IMDb has been providing such information since 1990 and the site looks to be moving pretty nicely with the times.
The site which was acquired by Amazon back in 1998 has just clocked up 40 million downloads of its Android and iOS apps which were launched in 2010. These numbers are being driven by the increased use of IMDb’s mobile-optimized website which is clocking at 150 million uniques each month.
Users will be happy with how IMDb is rewarding the people who are loyal to using its apps. New discovery and personalization features have been added to make the IMDb experience a better one. Users will now be able to check-in and share what they are watching via Facebook and Twitter. This feature will be a massive conversations starter and should funnel new visitors to the site as well as raise its profile on sites like Facebook and Twitter.
