Lawsuit Claims AT&T Bills Customers Phantom Data Charges

A class action lawsuit was filed against AT&T that claimed the carrier’s billing system records data use up to three times the actual usage, which includes phantom charges while the phone is not in use. AT&T said that the issue is a misunderstanding of how data usage is billed. The class action lawsuit was filed last January in US District Court in Northern California but interest about it was renewed when one of the lead attorneys, Barry Davis, went on Today show last Thursday.
