Google’s Chromebook is becoming quite a seller due to its affordability and sleek functionality but this hasn’t stopped the search giant from waiving a bit of profits for a good cause. While Facebook was busy racking up its billionth user and going public, its silent competitor was also busy building features and adding people to the growing fold. Now Google+ is holding firm at 500 million+ users and Google is showing that it doesn’t intend to give up the dream of catching Facebook and beating it at its own game

Right now it seems Spotify can do no wrong; the streaming music platform is steadily growing numbers, more people are paying to stream music and somehow music industry distributors and artists are seeing it as the spot to be.

Ever wondered what happens to publicly traded companies when they get in trouble? Students go to the principal’s office; companies get scolded by the SEC. I am not so sure where Netflix CEO Reed Hastings would prefer to be (school principal’s office perhaps) but reports are that the Netflix boss is under investigation for talking to Facebook and revealing certain bits of information about his company’s performance.

Nothing turns off a potential customer like interacting with poorly designed or printed promotional materials. Today’s customer has lots of choices and so when she comes across anything that doesn’t speak to her ‘high expectations’, she moves along.

I know 1.04% isn’t a lot and probably not much to write home about but given that Windows 8 is a tablet-focused OS, news that its now gaining acceptance among Windows users is very good news indeed—at least for Microsoft. The launch of the much anticipated Windows 8 came and went in a flash and for a while the numbers looked good. There were a reported 4 million licenses activated in the first 3 days of launch and for a few analysts looking on, those sales were a potent sign of bigger things to come.

Google’s annual transparency report is the search giant’s way of letting you (the user) know how it’s been storing and handling any personal information that it collects. The report has sort of become a synonym for “what did the government ask for this year Google” and this year’s report is quite telling
